Stolen Opportunity (Lex)

[Xavier]

Xavier jogged happily up the steps of the Academy. He was feeling great for one of the few times in his life. He felt happy, calm, and at peace with life. He had just celebrated his one month anniversary with Lex during which they had spent a wonderful night together. Xavier had found the girl of his dreams and could not have been happier with the way life was going right now. He had just been out hunting by himself, which he had not done in a long time. Xavier had forgotten the thrill of relying on only himself as he tracked prey through the woods. He had even gotten a decent kill out of the whole thing, a decent sized elk.

Little did he know that all was going to change with one little accidental encounter. He was whistling happily on cloud nine not looking where he was going, but of course that was typical of clutzy but well meaning, good-natured Xavier. He bumped into a blonde girl by accident, knocking her to the ground.

"Oh I'm sorry miss," he said, with a sheepish expression as he lent her a hand to help her up. She was rather attractive but Xavier didn't notice much, he was too concerned with helping her up so he could go see Lex.

"Well watch were you're going nex--oh," she started to berate him but then actually looked at him and stopped, a small grin playing on her lips, "You're a cute one..." she said as he gave him a once over and Xavier shifted nervously, "Well since you knocked me over I think you should make it up to me," she said with a wicked grin.

"What..um, what do you mean miss?" He asked and was about to suggest money or something before she had pressed him up against the wall and started kissing him. Xavier's eyes went wide with surprise as his muffled attempts to ask her to stop fell on deaf ears. He tried to push her away but every attempt just seemed to press her closer against him. Xavier groaned inwardly, he prayed to all the gods he could think of that Lex wouldn't show up at this moment.

[Lexandra]

Lexi bounced down the main steps of the school. Her hair was up in it's usual style her bangs tucked behind her ear as she hopped down each step. A smile that was rare on Lex's face showed. She had a breakthrough this morning in finding out who she really was and she couldn't wait to tell Xavier.

It wasn't her name. Lexandra. That wasn't it. She had found birthing records where it was her middle name but then only part of it. It was amazing how easily she had found the right name. Everything matched and now she wanted to go to earth to get more information and for that she needed her Xavier.

She knew he had gone out hunting this morning. And she knew that he should be back by this time. If not she would wait for him. She couldn't wait to tell him. Dressed in BLUE jeans and a red tank top that hugged every curve she owned her pale skin displayed beautifully and the necklace he had given her lay on her chest.

She looked up after she landed down the stairs and froze. There in the main hall was.. and he.. they were..

Rage took over her and she nearly reached for shadow but no that was too good for him now. She wouldn't waist a priceless arrow on a sorry ass such as himself. That lying little bastard was going to pay and she would make sure he never had puppies! She walked over and spun the girl away from Xavier before pushing her hard into a wall. She looked at the both of them with fire in her eyes.

"How DARE you." she said coldly her eyes held nothing but rage and pain at the moment.

[Xavier]

Xavier had still been attempting to push the girl off of him when he saw Lex and his eyes widened in surprise with a hint of fear. Then he saw her storming over towards the pair of them and Xavier frantically attempted to push the girl off. He was more concerned with saving her life. Lex's wrath knew no bounds and she was sure to be super pissed at this. Especially since it wasn't all that long their one month anniversary. Why, why damnit did this always have to happen to him?! Nothing could ever consecutively go right in his life. If someting good happend, something horrible always happened to balance it out. It was as if his life was supposed to remain neutral, never truly good or truly bad.

The girl winced as she was spun around and slammed into a whole. Who was this psycho bitch who was interrupting her?! She had just been making her move on that cute guy when she stormed out of nowhere and started screaming at them, "What the hell is your problem bitch?" she asked angrily as she pushed Lex back and hard, "Girls...this all one big mis-," Xavier tried to interject but it was too late, "Don't you put your damn hands on me, don't be jealous just because he wants me and not you," the blonde said pushing Lex over with a smirk, "..understanding," Xavier finished sighing and sliding down the wall to sit in a heap, shaking his head, "Why..why me?" he asked, looking to the heavens for some sort of answer.

[Lexandra]

Did she just call me a bitch!? Oh heavens above this girl was going down. Not only was the hoe going to hell because she was cheap but because Lexi was giving her a one way ticket. The girl pushed Lexi back and she could only smirk. Oh that did it. Slamming the girl into the wall was playing nice.

She didn't even hear Xavier. That traitorous dog could just go to hell with his tramp for all she cared. Bastard! She smirked at the girl and bowed gently in Japanese style. Walking forward with THAT deadly smirk on her face she grinned.

"Oh I'm dreadfully sorry. You're right, why should I care he doesn't love me. Well I should leave you to him so he can cheat on you and break YOUR heart!" she screamed and punched the girl right in the face.

BAM!

CRACK!

Lexi's knuckles cracked and she winced as her middle finger became dislocated but that didn't matter right now. This was a fight and she wasn't afraid to use force. Lexi was not afraid to beat this girl up she deserved it because Xavier would get his later only his would have sharp points involved.

[Xavier]

Xavier's head shot up as Lex screamed at the girl. Why should I care he doesn't love me, I should leave him to you so he can cheat on you and break your heart! her words cut him right to the core and he wasn't even paying attention to the way she was savagely beating the blonde girl. The words had hurt him badly and it wasn't till he hear the small pop of her finger dislocating that he snapped back to reality.

"Lex that's enough!" he yelled as he yanked the blonde girl away from her and behind him. She quivered behind him hiding as she steadied herself against him, "Lex I would never cheat on you I love you, you know that..." he said but then the anger settled in, "But why in the hell would that matter because apparently you don't trust me enough to actually inquire as to what's going on in a situation before you beat the hell out of me and the other person involved!" he said, angrily, "I get in to bad situations I know that, but it's not because I don't love you it's because I'm a damn idiot!!" he yelled.

Then looked back at the blonde girl, "And you...don't you think for a fucking second that I would want you more than her!! You couldn't even begin to compare to her!!!" he roared, obviously livid as he stood there breathing heavily. After all that ranting and yelling, he had no idea what to do next.

[Lexandra]

Lexi was shaking with rage as soon she heard Xaviers' voice call out and he pulled the blonde behind him. She looked at him as she began to sob. Tears rolling down her face as she turned away from him she could watch him. She loved him with everything she had in her life and now.. now he had found someone else that seemed to be better for him or something.

Then he yelled at her and her tears fell harder. Harder than ever. But how could she trust him. He didn't understand. She loved him with everything she had and look at what kept happening. She turned and looked at him.

"You don't understand what it's like damnit. Every time. EVERY TIME DAMNIT I come to find you, you're with some other girl. In some situation with her. It's hard to believe it's just a coincidence. I love you damnit, but ... oh never mind!"

She cried harder as she turned and ran. Tripping over her own blindness from tears she cried out as another snap was heard. Craddling her arm to her body she got back up and ran out the front doors. She didn't hear his words to the blonde girl as she ran down the steps heading for the forest. She had to go somwhere.

"Breaker, target has been sighted. Acquisition in twenty seconds." said a mechanised voice over the pa system.

The girl was upset and wasn't on guard. That was all they needed to grab her. That was all that mattered. She had found her name and so long as she hadn't told anyone this whole process could be erased and no one would be any of the wiser. With her personality no one would have gotten close to her and besides after re-education she would be different anyhow.

Parker smiled softly as he watched the girl running. Using his mechanical eye he assessed the girl. She was in good shape. A dislocated finger, a broken arm. She was not doing so well. He grinned. That was her shooting arm. She was defensless. Timefore the plan to go into action.

Stepping out from the forest he walked with his head down his white hair glowing in the sunlight. Lexi froze as he walked up and cupped her cheek before grabbing her. All the memories came back. Flooding fast the tests... the experiments. It all came back.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. "I don't want to go!!" she screamed trying to fight back the best she could.

"NO! Leave me alone!! I can't.. I wont Don't make me go back!" she cried as he held her with little force. She dropped her hands as they put the clorophorm over her nose and got her to pass out. A teleport was opened and Parker stepped through dragging Lexi by the wrist after him.

[Xavier]

"Damnit Lex..." he whispered as he totally forgot about the blonde and started to run after her. There were a million thoughts running through his mind as he chased after her. Would she leave him? Did she think he was a liar and was actually cheating on her? He just wanted to find her and hold her and tell her how sorry he was that he loved her that he would let the whole world burn if it meant he could hold her in his arms.

"Lex, please wait!" he called as he saw her fall and heard the snap, wincing he moved to help her but she got up and took off towards the woods. He ran after her, running as fast as he could but he couldn't seem to quite catch up.

He fell into a lope as he cashed after her on all fours. It was an odd sight to see a human tearing across the grounds on all fours like a dog. In mid-run he transformed into his wolf form and began chasing after her as fast as his four furry legs would carry him. He was panting heavily as he returned to his human form once he was a good ways into the woods.

"Lex where are you?" he called out as he used his senses of the predator spell to enhance his senses and began tracking her. He followed her scent to a small clearing. He smiled, relieved that he had found her, and was about to move forward to stop her when a man in white appeared and she started screaming about how she didn't want to go back. He quickly subdued her and started pulling her through a portal. It happpened so fast that all Xavier had time to do was run after the man.

"LEX!!!!!" he yelled as his rage forced his next animal transformation. The yell was replaced by an animalistic roar as his body shifted into that of a grizzly bear and he charged into the portal after her. Not even heaven and hell could stop him from getting her back. Those bastards had hurt her once and now they were taking her away again, they wouldn't hurt her this time though because he was going to kill every last one of them.

[Lexandra]

And she was back. The place of her nightmares. The dark halls of The Santuary. The place where they had done things to her in the past and the place where she had been sent from. She was here again. Her eyes opened and she was in the same room as she had been before.

The smell of anticeptic. She groaned as she woke and the Parker smiled down at her. Her hair was down. Her arm was casted. She still wore her clothing.

"And good morning to you Ms. Ashlyn." he said with a smile.

Her name. The real one he used it and her eyes opened wide. He chuckled at her as he put the visor over her eyes. Plugging it in the re education began. It would take a few days. She would forget everything. A blank slate again. This shouldn't have been allowed to happen. Something had made her soft. And they couldn't have that. She had to be strong and cold. Her life was forfeit anyway. She couldn't live like normal people.

Activating the program it began to play and though she fought it she soon settled down. An IV placed in her arm would keep her awake but sedated. Turning off the lights and locking the door marked 'Experiment A' Parker filled out a file in the hall way.

[Xavier]

Xavier skidded to a halt and he did skid quite a few feet before he finally stopped. He wasn't quite yet used to maneuvering in his bear form and it most definitely was not as nimble or agile as his wolf form. But it's deadliness was what he need now most. The grizzly bear stalked down the hallway of the building. It seemed to be some sort of hospital or laboratoray complex. The stale, recycled air, and the smell of antiseptics and artificial cleanliness made him gag slightly with nausea.

"Lex..please be alright," he whispered softly as he stalked down the hallway, his claws clacking gently against the tiled porcelain floor of the laboratory hospital place thing. A scientist looking fellow was walking down the hallway, muttering to himself as he flipped through a chart. He looked up and yelled with a startled expression as he came face to face with a grizzly bear.

Xavier roared angrily and slammed his paw down on the man, knocking him to the ground, "Where's Lexandra?!" he asked as he pressed his paw down on the man's head, "I uh..Lexandra who is that?" he asked, bewildered, "Girl, black hair with maroon streaks, had a broken arm, came in with a man with white hair," Xavier said, pressing harder, "Oh Experiment A sh-she's in down the hallway, being re-educated," the frightened scientist replied.

Xavier turned back into his human form with a grim smile, "Thank you," he said before he raised his staff using his Thorn Strip spell to impale the man, "I'm coming Lex," he said with grim resolution as he started off down the hallway in the direction the now dead scientist had told him to go.

[Lexandra]

Lexi closed her eyes tightly she could watch this. She had to hang onto what she knew what she was remembering. She had to remember .. Xavier. He was probably off with blondie. She thought she had heard his voice before she had passed out but it was probably just a figment of her imagination.

"Relax. It won't hurt long." Parker's voice said and she cringed as he injected her with something else.

"We can't have you remembering things that ought to be forgotten now can we?" he asked as he undressed her and sat her in a tub of cold water. Her body underneath the water he closed the sensory isolation tank her eyes still seeing images but without anything to focus on she would give into the re education.

"It will all work out in the end." he smirked as she tossed her clothes into the chair her necklace hitting the floor just in front of the chair.

[Xavier]

"Lex, I'm coming," Xavier shouted as he transformed into his bear form yet again and ambled down the hallway. He was nearing it, her door, the palce where she was being kept. Luckily for him these morons had labeled their doors in alphabetical order. He wasn't far from her now, he ached to hold her in his arms. They hadn't even been separated for long but the thought, just the thought that they might take her away from him forever made his heart ache.

"LEX" He roared as he found the door and 700 lbs of animilastic rage slammed into the door marked Experiment A. The door collapsed as he charged into the room, snarling and roaring angrily, "LET HER GO!!!" he roared as he rammed into the white haired man, the one who had taken her from him, "You, you let her go," he snarled as he pinned the man to the wall with a large paw, "You're not going to take her away from me you understand?!" he roared, angry bear teeth bared as he roared in the man's face.

"Where is she?" Xavier asked, returning to human form and keeping the white haired man pinned down with the end of his staff, "Tell me where you're keeping Lex," he demanded.

[Lexandra]

The door crashed open and a huge bear came into the room. Charging at him he stood up only in time for the bear to knock him against the wall pinning him down. His claw in his chest and began demanding things. So Lexi had indeed found someone. He chuckled that someone so cold could be so cared for.

"She's gone. We disposed of her. She knew too much." he said with an evil grin.

Inside the tank Lexi couldn't hear anything she could only see the images racing in front of her. She was starting to lose it. Lose what she remembered. She was starting to lose what had happened since her released. It was fading slowly. No she had to hold on.

Xavier. She still had to kick his ass for cheating on her. He deserved an arrow but she was unarmed and right now if she just say him again it would be wonderful.

"Too bad you got here late." Parker grinned at Xavier.

[Xavier]

Xavier roared angrily, his bear side coming back a little but only in personality not physical appearance. He was lieing, Xavier could tell, the quickening on of his heart beat, the barely noticible stench of perspiration. The man was lieing and it angered Xavier to think he could get away with talking about killing Lex. Xavier used his Vine Entrapment spell and several large, thick vines erupted from the from floor and grabbed the man by each of his arms and legs Xavier noticed a tank in the corner of the room hooked up to all sorts of monitors and gauges. She was in there she had to be, Xavier's vines slammed the man viciously against the wall.

"Open that tank! I know she's in that thing!" he yelled, his face contorted in rage as the vines started to pull on each of limbs in different directions, "I will tear you apart limb by limb if you don't tell me how to open that tank," Xavier said, his voice deadly serious.

[Lexandra]

Parker laughed. This kid was out of his league if he thought he could tear him apart. He was no longer human. His body was mechanical only his brain remained human. He didn't have a heart anymore. He just chuckled at the boy that was threatening him over a experiement.

"She isn't even normal. Why don't you just let her go. She's gone anyway. It won't matter now what you try. She's no longer here." he said coldly.

The boy noticed the tank but Parker grinned when he couldn't figure out how to open it. Every moment she was in there was another moment that she was being re educated, forgetting things that she had learned, forgetting people she had met, forgetting feelings she had discovered. Forgetting so much and she would soon be a blank slate again and they would start over. Perhaps sending her to the magic school was a bad choice. They wouldn't make that mistake again.

[Xavier]

Xavier growled angrily, his threats weren't having any effect on this guy. So he decided to go through with this threat a little and one of the vines started pulling at the mans arm, instead of the popping of a dislocated shoulder that he was excepting there was an electric hissing and snapping of wires. The guy was a robot?! That must have been why Xavier's threats of bodily harm had no effect on him, he had no actual body to harm. Xavier kept him pinned to the wall as he moved over to the tank and ran his hand against it.

"I'm coming Lex," he whispered as he held his staff up, "Mother Gaia, grant me the Strength of the Bear," he prayed as a small spirit bear appeared at his side and then turned into a statuette which attached itself to his staff. A green glow of energy passed through the staff and through his body strengthening his muscules and making him stronger. He raised his staff again and viciously struck the metal tank with the butt of the staff. At first there was nothing more than a metallic clang but Xavier didn't give up.

Fueled by his rage at Lex being taken from him and his love and concern for her he struck harder and harder several times. Finally the metal started splintering and then finally cracked, with one final blow the tank fell to pieces, water gushing out all over the floor. There was his Lex, and he almost fell to his knees before he pulled her out of the tank slipping some sort of device off of her eyes and pulling all sorts of nodes and electrodes off of her body as he cradled her in his arms, not say anything yet because he was simply too relieved to have her back.
