Taking this from TriKing Forums, I've wanted to adapt the concept of forum teams to the Arcane Academy. If you're a Xin member, it's pretty much the same thing as a gang. OOC matters, each member of a team will have mini-sigs with the team name, only sometihng major if you want, but manditory for each team member (they can be different or the same. I made my character's sig with his name so no one would steal it). IC, it doesn't necessarily mean each team member is an ally. Two enemeis could be in the same team for RP purposes. As an IC effect, a team could be a band of members that follows threads (as rules see fit) to create an intergrated storyline. Allies IC could be a combat team, for example.
To become part of a team, PM the Team Captain(s). Right now, I'm testing teams, and have my character, Tenshu as a Team Captain, and Roy Atenwood as a Team Captain. Tenshu because it's my character, my idea, and I need a test run where all my base still belong to me.
Roy because he jumpstarted his own variation, and I think he's ready anyway. Now, back to joining teams. Team Captains will have some sort of initiation IC. If you're a Team Captain, figure something out. Initiation or no, you'll have to RP each character's admittance, anyway.
If you wish to create a team, PM a mod or admin, and all of the staff will go over it to see if we think you're safe with a badge, so to speak. If approved, you become a Team Captain, and you get to choose your name and everything from then on. If we see that you're trying to god-mod your little team into full power on the board, we'll literally step into the current thread and create an apocalypse for your team. We won't end the thread or kill people, we'll split up the team, never to be seen again. It'll all be done IC. ;D See, just because you want total power but can't get it doesn't mean you can't have fun being denied.
Now, back to the upsides. The Team Captain(s) can pick out cool ranks and what not. Name them. The Team Captain(s) will, of course, be the top rank. For example, my character's team "The Eye of Heru" has simple ranks:
-Master of the Udjat (Team Captain)
-Elemental Keeper
-Soldier of Seth (Regular member)
The Eye of Heru (Heru or Horus. Pronounced different, but the same god) is Egyptian based. Tenshu is a soul mage, so I chose a past time based soley on souls. The Udjat Eye was the Eye of Horus. It was ripped out of his body by Seth (as seen in the the sig picture above). Horemheb the restorer was said to be an Egyptian mage that prayed to Horus. The eye became object form, and was burried with him after Horemheb's death as Pharoah. During his reign as Pharoah, Horus was killed by Seth. Seth has practically given him the eye, so Horemheb had prayed to Seth then on. Seth was the god of war and all things evil, which caused Horemheb's death. The Eye was said to have granted life-giving powers, which is what fought Seth off from Horemheb so long before he finally reached in and slowly tore each bit of flesh from his body like scissors on stretchy... well, skin. Horemheb's soul was said to have been put into a jar, since his body was not in tact.
So, enough history. I won't quite yet be accepting requests to join. I'm still working quirks out and have planned for a few members to join ahead of time so we can do this. When it's open, I'll make note of it, and will make note of all other team updates.
