Healing a Wounded Soul (Junpei)

[Junpei]

He sighed happily as she lay the kisses across his chest and pulled her a bit closer to him, his mind still feeling the effects of what they had done. The words that had come before were still spinning around in his head, separating out and being memorized for the future, whatever reason why he could not know.

"I love you to Phaedra, and I'm glad I'm back, very glad."

He said giving her a soft squeeze his eyes blinking away a bead of sweat. Her own body shimmered still, her skin glowing in the soft light of the room, which still had the back nether fire torches to offer up lighting. The sky above them shifted a bit, matching the exact alignment of their counterpart in space. Junpei still marveled at how long ago that had been, how truly long ago it had been. He had only put that in a day before Phae came round, to completely absorb his life and make him a happier man.

She moved, grabbing something from her night stand. She produced a little black box and lay it on his chest, the box's material cold on his skin. He used his free right hand to flip open the top and he marveled at the ring before him. An anniversary gift? It had only been three months, and all he had to offer was running away, now he felt bad He didn't show it, and neither did his eyes as he carefully picked up the box and examined the ring, the black onyx stone a tad darker than his own onyx eyes. The runes indeed meant focus and concentration, but would offer minimal support, it wasn't magically blessed, just had a stone that helped it along. Yes it would act as an excellent focal point though.

Smiling he pulled his lover up and kissed her, pulling her fully onto him the ring and box were set on his own nightstand as his arms encircled her waist an held her in place. Breaking the kiss he smiled up at her and nuzzled her nose with his, running the tip of his along the side of hers.

"And here I got you nothing love. Be prepared for a very large six months present."

He smiled softly, hoping she wouldn't be angry with him for forgetting to buy her a gift, although he didn't think she would mind, it was kind of odd to have a three months anniversary. Either way he would give her a wonderfully splendid six month gift, he would be sure to give her exactly what she wanted for the next three months, all of it would only help at six.

"Thank you, by the way, I love it. You're always so attentive, so caring, what would I do if I didn't have you?"

He asked it, knowing it might dredge up a bad memory but making her smile and hearing her laugh again would be top priority now. He had heard how well she could say his name after all, exceptionally.

Well though he seemed to actually like the gift he didn't put it on which to Phae only meant one thing.. he didn't like it. Sure it was a trifle odd to get your fianc'e a anniversary gift on your third month but it was also a kind of engagement ring since her hair was all she had to suffice when he actually asked her.

"I've been saving all my money from home since you asked me to marry you. I wanted you to have a real ring. I know you liked the hair but I wanted you to have something special. So I ordered it from a jewelry shop. It's supposed to be blessed and have some magical properities or something but I.. just paid it off and I was going to give it to you last Saturday and take you out for a dinner... but... well anyway. Happy anniversary."

She pulled herself off of him and lay down next to him once again wondering if he really liked it or not. Sure she was a bit disappointed he didn't have anything for her but she hadn't really expected him to.

She lay down and closed her eyes relaxing next to him and just enjoying his company.

Smiling a bit, he felt her slide off him and settle in next to him, she would more than likely need sleep with her body being the way it was, her gift was soon grabbed up again. He would slip it on, soon, once he examined it a bit closer. Using his left arm to encircle her waist his right found the box and he grabbed the ring, holding it carefully he examined it top to bottom, looking it over completely.

Finally deciding that looking at it was not doing much he pulled his left hand out from under her and then rolled onto his stomach, he brought his left hand up, having the ring finger extended and the others pulled back he smiled and offered her the ring.

"I would love to say that my wife to be put this on, cause it's never coming off."

He would wait for her to put it on before he would roll back over and resumed their earlier position, him holding her in his left arm, his right arm tucked under the pillow behind his head as he looked down at her and just admired her beauty. She was already looking better. The twinkle back in her eye, the full and gentle feel she had on every inch of her skin. Her lips were full of color and her hair had gained it's original sheen back. Yes, it was all back to normal except she was a bit light, but time would be needed for that.

"Phaedra, let's take that trip to Germany in two weeks, OK?"

Phaedra's eyes were shut but she felt Junpei moving and so she cracked an eye and looked at what he was doing and had to bite her lower lip to keep from smiling as he was looking at the ring again. So he did like it. Well good she thought to herself. Then she closed her eyes again a smile crossing her features but opened when he rolled over on his stomach. There he was asking her to place the ring on his finger above the hair ring she had made for him that day.

A smile crossed her face as she took the ring and looked up at him with a wink.

"Junpei, will you marry me and make me the happiest woman in the world?" she asked as she slide the ring on his finger knowing they were already engaged it was still fun to play because she already knew his answer.

He turned back over and she cuddled up in his arms again. And this time as her body relaxed she fell asleep in his arms. Even the nap she had taken outside had not prepared her for recent activities and her body was now worn out again. She wondered when she would be back to normal. She was still painfully thin and always so tired so easy to tire but she figured it would come with time and probably take longer to fix than it had to ruin. She hadn't eaten since the mashed potatoes and still wasn't hungry.

Smiling at her words he of course gave her a resounding yes and when she finally fell asleep in his arms he was a bit tired himself, so he closed his eyes and soon he was asleep.

He dreamnt of him and her, and of Germany, and of raising a family there. Having Loish around for years to come, maybe even going and finding Phaedra her own Jhereg. Yes finding Phaedra her own Jhereg, that would be good, to see Loish find a mate as well and let Phaedra experience the joy of having a familiar. She didn't need on per say, but having one wouldn't hurt, and it would prove to be a very fun experience.

Smiling as he woke two hours later, the dreams still fresh in his mind, he noticed she was still sound asleep. He didn't dare move, for fear to wake his sleeping beauty and disturb her recovery. So instead he hummed softly to himself, Japanese songs, soft and high notes fluttered over his ears and reverberated threw his chest. She wouldn't waken from it though, just sleep peaceful as his chest rose and fell with the notes.

Phae wouldn't wake for another hour her sleep was deep and healing. She dreamed her own dreams for her and Junpei's future. She hoped the Phoebe would be part of it and that they would still have the wonderful friends like Xeryth and it would be a truly fantastic life.

When her eyes finally opened she smiled at hearing Jun's humming. She let her eyes slide closed again as she lay there for a few more minutes enjoying the reverberations that sounded within his chest before she moved so he would know she was awake.

"Seems I'm not the only one with musical talent." she said with a smile on her face. "And I forgot to tell you Germany, in two weeks .. it's a date. And I can't wait. I'll write home to my folks later today."


Phae sat up and rubbed her eyes hugging a blanket to her too thin form as if embarrassed by it which she was a bit at least in front of Jun. She stood up and moved around the room gathering her clothes and dressed. She sat down in the desk chair and brushed out her hair.

"You said we could go see Phoebe and Xeryth today.. I was hoping we still could." she said hopefully. "I need to thank Xeryth though I know words can never explain how grateful I am. And you need to meet Phoebe and explain a few things to her. She was rather ticked I think." Phae smiled a little at that because it was true. Though she was very weak she had heard everything.

Junpei smiled as she moved, complimenting him on his musical talent, which he had always considered zero. He was pleasantly proud when she sat up and hugged the sheets to her frame, his hands sliding off her he lay, exposed to the waist and watched as she proceeded to get up and move about. He merely lay there and for a long while stared at the ceiling as she dressed and got ready to go, the red sheets of the bed cool against his skin. For the longest time he just watched the constellation Draco and followed it's start pattern over and over again.

She spoke of going to find Xeryth and Phoebe, Junpei nodded in his place. He raised his left hand and stared at the ring on his finger a moment, admiring the onyx stone. Carefully he sat up and then slid to the end of the bed. Laying on his stomach he grabbed boxers and black slacks. He slid both on and then grabbed a black T shirt from the closet. He then slid it on and tucked it into his waist, then finished it all off with a black belt. He smiled and grabbed socks and shoes before he walked over to where Phaedra was. He leaned down and kissed her softly before nodding again.

"Sure, let's go grab em and explain everything."

He offered his hand out to her, smiling. He knew there was probably going to be some yelling from Phoebe at least, if not Xeryth to. From what Junpei had seen from both of them in the hospital the other day they were not pleased with him, hell he wasn't pleased with himself.
